Serving Children Around the World - Kiwanis' motto. Kiwanis is a global organization of volunteers dedicated to changing the world, one child and one community at a time.

Purpose: In its second year, this race is a collaborative effort among the three Licking County Kiwanis Clubs: Granville, Newark and Heath/Moundbuilders, in support of the current Kiwanis International project‐‐The EliMiNaTe Project (Eliminate Maternal/Neonatal Tetanus). Working with UNICEF, Kiwanis clubs around the world aim to eliminate tetanus by raising $110 million for 387 million vaccines to save and protect over 129 million mothers and their future babies from tetanus. Each year, maternal/neonatal tetanus steels the lives of 60,000 innocent babies and 30,000 mothers throughout the world. Many unvaccinated newborns and adults die from tetanus, suffering first from repeated, painful convulsions, unable to be held due to extreme sensitivity to light and touch.  For each $1.80 raised, one mother and her unborn children can be vaccinated. The Kiwanis Organization is making a difference. Kiwanis has raised $46 million to date. Through this 5K, we will make a positive change by raising awareness of tetanus and $3,000 in donations to eliminate maternal/neonatal tetanus.

Course: The course starts/finishes at the Rotary Park Playground Pavilion located on the OSU‐N/COTC campus, 925 Sharon Valley Road. The 3.1 mile loop will be clearly marked.

Kiwanis is a global organization of volunteers dedicating to changing the world one child and one community at a time. Administration of three dose of vaccine costing $1.80 can save a mother and her future children from this horrible disease. All proceeds from our Run/Walk will help save lives. The Eliminate Project is a joint effort of Kiwanis International and UNICEF.
