Kiwanis Club of Granville
April 2010
Dear Kiwanis 4th of July Parade Entrant:
Thank you for participating in our 4th of July parade and celebration. The parade will occur on Monday, July 5th. Our parade theme is “A Century of Scouting”. Decorate your entry to highlight scouting. We anticipate over 100 entries and are happy that you will participate. In order for the parade to begin on time and move at a reasonable pace, please read and follow the items listed below:
SR 161 exit onto W. Broadway (County Rd 539A) is closed due to the SR 161 highway project. The best route to the staging area is SR 16 exit (Cherry Street) to Broadway and then drive west on Broadway.
Other Route Options:
- SR 161 to SR 37 North to Alexandria, then take Raccoon Valley back to Granville.
- Burg Street (top of hill) to Thornewood to W. Broadway (cars only).
· Floats will not be staged along Broadway until West of the Wildwood Park entrance. This will provide easy access to the staging areas and to parking at Wildwood Park.
· The parade will line up on a 1st come, 1st lined up basis, starting at 8:30 am. Someone must be with the vehicle/float at all times, to ensure it can be moved if needed. We will fill up the Orange Section (Wildwood Drive), then the Blue Section (on Broadway West of the Park). If you have a large group of people (i.e. class reunion), you should plan on meeting in the Orange section (Wildwood Drive), but be sure to have your float lined up in Wildwood Drive before it fills up. No one will be let into the Staging Area after 10:00 AM.
· Restrooms are available at Wildwood Park.
· Please fill out the announcer form before you arrive in the staging area. Please print. The announcers at the Grandstands will use this information to announce your entry at the Grandstands. Also, please read the 4th of July – Safety Rules and sign the bottom of the form that indicates your “Acknowledgement of Receipt and Release of Liability”. Completion of this document is required to participate in our parade. Please hand the completed forms to your Section Chief. Note that all Commercial Entries are required to pay a $40 entry fee.
· If you are riding a bicycle, please assemble on Thresher Street (the first street West of Sugar Loaf Park) on Broadway at 10:30 AM for the official judging of the bicycle entrants.
• Please read the enclosed “End of Parade” document. It is important that you know which way you will be exiting the parade route, especially if you have passengers to drop off.
See you bright and early on Monday, July 5th -- staging will begin at 8:30 AM!!! Judging of the floats begins at 9:00 AM. Judging of the bicycles begins at 10:30 AM.
