Scholarship

 

The Kiwanis Club of Granville is a service organization dedicated to providing a wide range of financial and other types of support and services to the Granville community. 

As tangible evidence to the club’s commitment to youth, the Kiwanis Club of Granville awards an annual scholarship to the top candidate selected by the club’s scholarship committee.   The scholarship is designed to recognize and support exceptional students graduating from Granville High School who have distinguished themselves academically and as leaders in extracurricular activities and services to their communities.  The scholarship consists of a cash award to be used for tuition, room, board or fees for post-high school education.  The award is nonrenewable.  The club reserves the right to alter the amount of the scholarship depending upon the annual scholarship budget and to offer one or more scholarships consistent with the annual budget.  The amounts and number of scholarship will be announced annually.  This year, the Kiwanis Club of Granville will award up to two scholarships not to exceed a total amount of $3,000, depending upon the number of candidates.  The scholarship application and all supporting documents must be received by the Scholarship Committee, Kiwanis Club of Granville, P.O. Box 133, Granville, OH 43023 by April 3, 2009Please complete the application form using additional sheets where requested.

 

Selection

 

The Scholarship Committee of the Kiwanis Club of Granville will select the scholarship winner based on the information submitted in and with the application following a personal interview of each candidate.  Selection criteria include:

 

1.      Graduating seniors of Granville High School pursuing post-high school education at accredited colleges or universities immediately following graduation.

2.      Financial need.

3.      Scholastic achievement with a minimum grade point of a 3.0 average on a 4.0 scale.

4.      Significant leadership in extracurricular activities.

5.      Work Experience.

6.      Demonstrated service and commitment to their community.

7.      Evaluation of two personal recommendations submitted by Granville High schoolteachers or guidance counselors, advisors, employers, coaches or other adults who know you well.  At least one of the recommendations must come from a teacher. Recommendations must be mailed directly to the Scholarship Committee.

8.      Essays

9.      Candidates must complete and submit an application by the announced deadline.

10.  Personal interview of the candidate by the Scholarship Committee.
