Following are the eight winning essays in the Kiwanis Club's Fourth of July Essay Contest for kids in first through sixth grades. Area kids were invited to write about their favorite Fourth of July memory, what the holiday means to them, what freedom means to them or a symbol of freedom, which was the club's theme for the Mile Long Parade this year.

Township secures future maple-syrup supply with lease

The Granville Kiwanis Club has secured a future supply of sap for the maple syrup it sells to raise funds for youth programs it sponsors.

The Granville Township trustees Wednesday agreed to lease the club land on which it will plant about 1,000 maple saplings. The land is an open area of Salt Run Park, which is located next

Granville Kiwanis Foundation Approved as Public Charity -  2/23/2009
The Granville Kiwanis Club forms the Granville Kiwanis Foundation, a  501c3 charitable organization

The Granville Kiwanis Club has formed the Granville Kiwanis Foundation. The IRS recently approved the 501c3 status for the Granville Kiwanis Foundation.

As a consequence, donations to the Kiwanis Club through the Granville Kiwanis Foundation are tax deductible and will benefit the Club's fundraisers and enable the Club to do more for charity.

Granville Kiwanis Make a Special Award in 2008 for Community Service -  7/28/2008

On July 28, 2008 the club recognized the exceptional community service achievements of Jessie Breymaier, also a 2008 graduate of Granville High School by awarding her a $500.00 scholarship. This is the first time this award has been given.  Jessie is the daughter of Herb and Tammy Breymaier.  She will be attending Anderson University in Indiana.

Granville Scholarship Winner Announced & Last Year's Winners Come Back to Visit  -  7/21/2008

On July 21, 2008 the Kiwanis Club of Granville awarded a $2,000.00 scholarship to Lesley Fisher, the daughter of Mike Fisher and Sally McClaskey.  Lesley is a 2008 graduate of Granville High School and will be attending the Ohio State University in the fall..  The scholarship is awarded based on academic ability, extracurricular school activities and community service.  Also present at the meeting were last year’s recipients of the Kiwanis Scholarship, Ben Thomas and Vincent
